I just got laid off from my job. What is the best way to get another one in this economy?

MJ asked:
I just got laid off from my job and I am very sad. What is the best and fastest way to get another one in this economy? Would the newspaper, employment agencies, or the internet be the best avenue to take? Also, how do you find and apply with some of the online job searches? Thank you very much! I need help because I have never been laid off before and I don’t know how to go about it! Grateful!
Thank you to everyone for you advice! I really do appreciate it! It is nice to see there might be some hope!

look for more work in your area and choose the job with the highest pay no matter what occupation because what you need right now is money
Kansieo.com
try netwroking. Talk to friends and family and see if you can get any leads. There are not too many jobs on the job boards and it’s getting very competitive.

Ever thought of working at home part-time for extra spending money? This is a great way for moms and teens, but really anyone to get some cash.
Basically what you do is take 2-5 minute surveys and offers. Totally free no credit card needed, no social security, no personal information. There are members that make anywhere from $20 a month to $2000. I’ve been paid seven times already. Check is guaranteed to come every month.

Check all sources you can, anywhere you can think of, to find a vacancy. And be willing to try something different, as you might not immediately be able to find a job in your chosen field straight away. It’s always terrible to lose a job, but as trite as it sounds, you need to stay positive and believe in yourself. Good luck!

Yeah I got laid-off not too long ago as well. I’m feeling down but I’m pulling through. I just realized I’m gonna have to bend a little on what I’m used to getting including salary and hours I am willing to work. Perhaps being willing to work for lower wages and longer hours might get them to hire you. And willing to work immediately too..

Until this economy picks up there is no real best way but look in all the places that you can think of, networking, online etc. Take advantage of the time to try to increase your skills, and education. It is a hard thing to go through especially the first time, so take at least a week or two to unwind and come to grips with it and really, really sit down and go over your resume thinking of all your strong points, all your experience and how it can transcend into other careers. When reading want adds either in the paper or online if you have 1/2 of what they are looking for apply then apply even online you can make cover letters structure it to fit each and every job. always positive.

I’m sorry you lost your job. In this day in time we must pray to God who is supplier of ALL needs even when the economy is BAD! Trust Him. Okay so I suggest you look online monster is okay, career builder, usajobs.gov is great, postal, clerical/administration and any particular jobs that might interest you! Hope this help and pray to God for a miracle and also know that God will reward HIS children who obey Him so now these are the praying times to receive what God has for the saints. Seek Him!
God Bless You and you have my prayers for financial miracles!

Temp agencys are a bad idea and they pay lousy vs direct hire. I have to move to find work in my field but rent is cheaper and the climate is a lot warmer in W Texas. but worrying bout tornandoes beats worrying about a job
Anyway don’t get discouraged, because competition is fierce
when you apply 99 others might want the same job
Look into relocating to where your skills are in demand and hopefully cost of living is cheaper
i was paying 900 a month to rent now moving to where i pay 400
and jobs are plentiful in my field best move i can make.

I’m sorry to hear about your lay off. Finding a new job is hard work and you have to know how to go about it the right way. There is lots of great free advice on job search on the web site below. At this point all of the avenues open to you would be your best bet, BUT, make sure you are doing targeted marketing, find as many sites on line as you can to submit your resume to for free so you don’t have to pay postage, and don’t give up. It will happen. Follow the advice on the web site and you should be ok. Email me and I’ll send you a copy of my job search ebook for free (as listed on the website below). Hope this helps.
