Should You Start Blogging?

This is our first article in a series about why you should start blogging.

An easy way to start a website is to start a blog (which stands for web log). A blog is different than the typical website in that it has tools to help you set up how the pages look and makes it easy to add content whenever you want to. You don’t have to learn any programming (such as HTML) that would be needed for what I call a traditional website.

You can start a blog for free and tell your friends or family how to find it to read what you are up to. Or, use a blog to write about job related subjects as a way to advertise yourself in the job market. This would be a way to add a website address or url to your business card or resume (very impressive)!

If you want your own website, getting a blog started is easy and fun. You can do this for free with many websites such as Wordpess.com, Blogger.com, Weebly.com, Tumblr.com and others. Most of these sites have very easy-to-use tools to start your own blog.

The free options will host the blog for you. This means that the pages you write will be put up on the internet and stored by the blog website. If you want to really own your blog, you can buy a domain name and buy hosting, but that is more advanced and will be discussed in a later article.

So, if you want a way to be found online, go start a blog!
